Chairman Eredo local council development area, Epe, have promised an all round development in the LCDA. Speaking at a well-attended stakeholders and public hearing meeting organized by his administration in collaboration with the legislative arm of the council, Hon. Adeniyi said his administration is keen towards developing Eredo to a standard that everyone will be proud of.
Highlighting his administration achievements within the last 50 days in office, the council which is known for his historic tourist centre is yet to explore the great opportunity.
While stressing that the council is poor and needed to generate more revenue to achieve its goals. He went on to say, “In my first week in office, I discovered the council environment is dirty, and I try to study the reason. I discovered this is due to lack of inadequate staff and lack of motivation. I then decided to employ nine new sweepers and increase the salary of the existing by 100% and going round now, we can see a significant change in our environment. Few days ago, I laid the foundation for a modern toilet construction at Mojoda Market, we have signed agreement with NOIC, Gbagada to train our youths in different vocational trainings after which our government will purchase equipment to make them self employed and invariably employers of labour.
According to him, “We have set up Eredo Investment Corporation to boost businesses, here, we want to curb indiscriminate selling of lands, the local government will buy from the community and later sell back to the community without extra charges. Currently, we are renovating the council secretariat to meet modern day standard”.
The councilors also present five bills for public hearing, they are bills for the establishment of Eredo Trust Fund; A bill for the establishment of Eredo Works office; A bill for the establishment of Eredo Investment Corporation; A bill for the establishment of Eredo Development Levy and A bill for payment of Building Materials space Approval, thereby seeking for public input before making it a bye-law.
Speaking at the occasion, member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Epe, constituency 02, Chairman House Committee on Health, Hon. Segun Olulade, said, the event is significant, and first of its kind in the local government history of Lagos State.
“This event is more significant as it has never happened in the history of Local government, putting up 5 bills for public hearing in less than 50 days in office, we need to commend the leadership of the council and the councillors for a job well done.” Olulade commended.
The event was well attended by party chieftains led by Chief Seriki Bamu, APC, leader, Epe Division and Lagos East Senatorial District, local government chairmen, Epe, and Ikosi Ejirin among others.
