AWARD-WINNING SAM OGRIH; THE ENVIABLE STORY OF A REAL ESTATE PERSON OF THE YEAR

He definitely may not be one of many Nigerians who are loud at what they do. Humble personality, dedicated traits’ display in his chosen profession and enviable record of achievements speak volume for highly meticulous Sam Ogrih. This young achiever and a role model to many aspiring entrepreneurs is so passionate about design, achieving high standards in everything he sets his mind on. Not only is Sam very detailed in his dealings, setting up new business ventures and working very hard at what he does and making explorations have endeared him to many who are today proud of new opportunities that have come their way through his rare intuition.

All these and many more have continued to trail Sam Ogrih’s resourceful records and his subsequent recognition for his sterling contributions in real estate developments in Nigeria. Just recently, he mounted the podium to receive African Leadership Magazine’s Award as Person of the Year and induction into the CEO’s Hall of Fame 2018 in far away South Africa.

For Sam, the award is appreciated but more importantly, he’s seen the recognition as a challenge to do more with more energized vision to transform the industry and empower the future generation to emulate the good deeds that have necessitated his recognition award as person of the Year.

At the inception of his company, Delta Mega Trend Nigeria Limited (DMTNL) in 2009, Sam Ogrih has been the managing director/ chief executive officer and has remained in his position to date. DMTNL is a real estate development firm and a member of the Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria (REDAN). 

An accountant by training, Sam is also a fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management. He has attended several local and international courses on leadership and Real Estate development from notable institutions including Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

His company proud its expertise in gated residential estates that has seen them develop the very prestigious Plantation City Estates, the new smart Southbrook Gardens Estate, both in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria and the stunning Ivory Oak Terrace Apartment at Marshy Hill Estate, Lagos.

Part of the enviable works the company has executed includes the design and development of the delightful, modern, smart Leawood Hotel and SEE Events Centre in Lagos among other numerous private, public, corporate and collaborative properties spread across Nigeria.

Sam is no doubt, passionate and committed to providing affordable housing solutions and smart buildings coupled with excellent customer service delivery. He has led a team of wonderful and efficient employees to consistently deliver high quality and affordable housing projects across the country.

The company has a strong social corporate responsibility policy and ensures it gives back to the communities in which they operate. Towards this commitment, DMTNL boasts of being personally involved in extensive road construction and building of houses since 2000 and has contributed significantly to raising the standards of practice in the industry.

Known for his rare large heart disposition, Sam has participated in several local as well as international trade and housing exhibition fairs where he extensively gave insights about improving real estate development in Nigeria.

Prior to establishing Delta Mega Trend Nigeria Limited, he was involved with setting up the Lagos State University Lekki Campus where many young Nigerians received affordable education and obtained various degrees. Sam, not only provides strong leadership to all employees and associates, he has mentored and continually been involved in mentoring many young Nigerians towards channeling their energies into productive areas.

He does not stop at that, he supports small start-up businesses in his own little way in order to encourage them and to create extended job opportunities to other young deserving individuals.

As a quiet philanthropist, he has contributed immensely for many years in the education of students at his immediate and extended home communities by ensuring that final year secondary school students write their external examinations free of charge, thereby reducing the burden on their parents as well as improving the overall education of these children. He provides school uniforms, books and footwear for over 1,000 school pupils on annual basis.

His family is also heavily involved in caring for aged men and women, especially the widows through a well-structured foundation.

Not only does teaching come natural to Sam, he’s fascinated about education where he has continued to contribute positively to the formal and informal education of many Nigerians.

Ask the award-winning Sam how he’s able to double the home front with the ever-demanding nature of his business, he tells you the pillar behind his successful surmount of the job challenges has been his better half, Dr. Lawretta Emiakpor Ogrih (Mrs.), Publisher/Editorial Director, SEE Inspirations magazine. She’s also the founder, Ivory Whestones and Mentors Foundation International and Covener, The R.E.D Moment & R.E.D for Rural Women in Need/Widows.
