Nigeria’s foremost reggae queen, Evi Edna Ogholi who’s been pursuing greater feat in France towards her musical career has finally made good her promises to her numerous fans especially in Nigeria with the release of her new works, titled, Peace and Love. The five tracker album, according to Evi, in an exclusive telephone interview with Safari News is ready to be released into the market by her official record company, Premier Music this Easter. She said, “I know I have deprived my fans a lot of Evi’s good reggae songs, it is high time to begin to reel out the newer sensation in me, this I have started with the release of my new album which will equally be released in France this year. She reiterated her apologies for the long break of releasing new works into the Nigerian market because she needed to acquire more challenging knowledge to attain the 21st century status, a move that has made way for the release of the new album”.
Evi, who told us more gists regarding the new album will soon be reeled out by Premier Music told of how she had worked tirelessly in the shootings of the musical video of the title track, Peace and Love due for release this Summer. “This is something my fans will relish because all the best resources have been put in place for the production”. In her words, her fulfillment so far will not be complete without the support and appreciation to her two lovely children, Adora Onome and Dumebi Odezi, who according to her have been her strength over the years. She equally recognized the numerous contributions of her friends in the media and music industry including Romeo O’tega, Monica Omorodion, Chris Okoro, Georgia Oza, Alexis Onome-Egborge, Black Rice, Osy Denobis, Afo- Tennyson Okakoso, Mike Appoh, Shakara Mutela and Hawa Cissoko, not leaving out her best friend in France, Estelle Clerget.
The new album, scheduled for release next month, April is produced by Fortune O’tega in the United States of America. It will be recalled that Evi Edna Ogholi stormed the Nigeria music scene in the 90’s with highly sensational songs, released by Premier Music. The albums which still reigns on the radio air waves till date earned Evi Edna various enviable music awards and the rare titled, queen of reggae, a feat that is yet to be contested by any female reggae star both in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
